A representation of the Forth Bridge appears on the 2004 issue one pound coin. In 2007 the Bank of Scotland £20 note features the Forth Bridge.
The Overall length of the Firth of Fourth Bridge is 8296ft or 2528.7 metres and was first opened in 1964 connecting Edinburgh to Fife.
The total weight of steel in bridge construction is approximately 39,000 tons with the main cable diameter being 2ft or 610mm.
The Pier of the North tower is situated on the Mackintosh Rock, a whinstone type outcrop.
In its first year the bridge carried 2.5 million vehicles, in 2004 the figure was 11.8 million and rising. The bridge carried its 250 millionth vehicle in 2002
